This past weekend was by far the most exciting for me in my nearly five years as pastor at Cross Creek. It actually began last Thursday evening when the music team from Reformed University Fellowship at the University of North Florida arrived for sound check and rehearsal. Craig Williford led an amazing team of young musicians through a beautiful selection of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Stephen Datz provided the sound assistance while Wayne Stefanski put the visuals in order. I loved the teamwork and was so excited, for I knew what the church would receive from this ministry on Sunday.
Then, on Saturday evening came the Fall Festival. After much prayer, lots of people answering the call to help, social media advertising and Kayce Clark's oversight, we had an estimated 400-450 people come through our Fall Festival within the four hour time frame. The Lord blessed us with perfect evening weather, the kids had a blast, faces were painted, pumpkins were decorated, food trucks were busy, chili was flowing, and trunks were dishing out plenty of candy to more superheroes I have ever seen in one location. Cross Creek, you loved your community well!! Gary and Lauri Hall even had a fishing expedition (see below) for candy.
We are so going to miss the Bartholomews when they return to Australia in five weeks. They are such a sweet family who for three years became such an integral part of our church life. Tim, Marnie, Isaac, Ella, and Chloe will be greatly missed. They are still here for a few more weeks, so be sure to love them lots!
Adam and Cyndi Bruce brought their game to the festival! Personally, I loved the football themed trunk the Bruce's put together.
Even our Mother's of Preschoolers (MOPS) ministry got into the festival spirit! It was so sweet to see their table with crafts. I love this ministry!
Then on Sunday morning we had an beautiful time of worship. Thank you to Tommy Park for his faithful preaching. I have been working feverishly to get the speedo/singlet illustration he used out of my mind, but to no avail! Please keep RUF in your prayers. We are always looking to life groups to feed these college students, so if you're able please let the church office know.
This Sunday we prepare to take the Lord's Supper. Please ready yourself by reading Scripture, praying, and reconciling with those whom you have strained relationship. It's a table of grace and the Father wants you to be gracious to others as He has been to you.
See you in worship in a few days!
