Weekly Update: November 4, 2015

"Church planting is the New Testament way of extending the gospel. Trace the expansion of the church through Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost part of the earth and you will see that church planters led the way." (C. Peter Wagner)
"They preached the good news in that city and won a large number of disciples… Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church…" Acts 14:21-23
"The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you." Titus 1:5

Dear Family,

Geoff and me in July 2014.

Geoff and me in July 2014.

Did you know that Cross Creek Church is a giving member of the Florida Church Planting Network? The network is made up of several PCA churches throughout the state who are guided by the vision to see a gospel-centered church in each Florida community. On Sunday I had the privilege of visiting one of the current church plants, Harbor Community Church in Bradenton, Fla. We were in town for the weekend visiting Kristen's parents, who are active members at Harbor. The planting pastor is my old friend Geoff Henderson, a fellow graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando.

God has been at work at Harbor. It has been a year and a half since they began meeting, and they now have 80-100 people in attendance at worship, as well as several small groups meeting throughout the week. They also actively serve their community through various service projects and special events. Their church's mission is "to glorify God by multiplying a gospel-centered, city-blessing, missional, maturing, and magnifying community in West Bradenton."

Harbor Community Church meets at the Bradenton YMCA.

Let's be in prayer for Harbor as well as the other church plants that God is raising up in order to extend His kingdom and magnify His glory throughout the world.

Also, continue to pray for Cross Creek Church, and consider how we can continue to give ourselves to the mission of Christ here in Saint Johns County. There is much work to be done, but it is good work, and our King is leading the way.

"His intent is that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord." Ephesians 3:10-11

See you Sunday!
