Weekly Update: January 25, 2016

Dear Family,

Thanks to those of you who stayed for our congregational meeting after worship yesterday. To highlight some of the high points that were stressed:

  • Please give faithfully to both the church and to the Greater Things campaign. There will be a renewed campaign formerly announced shortly.
  • Please serve the church in our ministries. Increasing our volunteer base will help prevent burnout.
  • Please increase your prayers for Cross Creek and for our community in northwest St. Johns. Cross Creek's desire is to follow the vision for the church established by the Lord in Scripture, yet there must also be thoughtful consideration in how to apply vision to our community. We want to do more events that show our love for the community.
  • Please keep our second service in your prayers. The officers are united in believing that a second service will provide further opportunity for people to come worship. Though the details have yet to be fully worked out, the plan is to launch in the Fall (likely after Labor Day) and run through the Winter and Spring. When we reach Summer we will re-evaluate. Details are forthcoming.

This week at Cross Creek our Women's Bible Study, Mothers of Preschoolers, and Youth Group will be meeting. As February approaches, Christianity Explored, Life Groups, and Men's Bible Study will be taking off. There will also be a Men's Prayer Breakfast on February 13. Details to all of our ministries and events can be found on our website, in our bulletin, or on social media.

I have received so much encouragement concerning the sermon series on the Holy Spirit. The Lord is nourishing our starved hearts with the bounty of His Word. I loved the time of prayer at the start of worship yesterday and the testimony by the Mersons. God has really been gracing our worship.

Last but not least, Carolina Panthers 31, Denver Broncos 20. Carolina will win Superbowl 50 and Cam Newton will be MVP, thus giving Gary and Laurie Hall great pride (it's an Auburn 'thang'...).

Have a wonderful week!

Paul
