Weekly Update: December 15, 2016

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). 24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25 but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus. - Matthew 1:18-25 ESV

Dear Family,

Christmas is officially ten days away! The lines at the post office are very long, there's traffic everywhere you go, the grocery stores are packed, and there are parties and gatherings to attend. Needless to say, it's easy to miss the peace of Christmas. Take time over the next few days to reflect on the joy of the season in Christ. Here are some Scripture references you may find helpful: Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7, 40:1-11; Matthew 2:1-12; Luke 1:26-55, 1:67-79, 2:1-20; John 1:14, 3:16; Galatians 4:4-5; 1 Timothy 1:15-17; Titus 3:3-7; 1 John 5:11.

If you are still considering gifts this Christmas season, please consider Cross Creek. I believe there is no better giving than to the Bride of Christ. By giving to the church you support our various ministries: weekend worship services, children and youth, missions, MOPS, men's and women's ministries, music ministry, church planting, hospitality, life groups, ministry events and outreach, and so on. So, please pray about giving a year-end gift to Cross Creek.

Please join us at Cross Creek for a violin concert. The date and time is listed above. It's a great way to love our community and please plan on staying for Saturday evening worship at 6 pm.

Lastly, thanks to all who donated gifts and toys to Daniel Kids. Your generosity will bring smiles to many children and families in need.

Love,

Paul
