Weekly Update: April 20, 2016

"And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother." 1 John 4:21

Dear Family,

I love Cross Creek Church!  I am so thankful for each and every one of you and praise God for you.  I also love our students.  We recently returned from a 3-day canoe/camping trip down the Suwannee River.  We were fearlessly led by elder and all-around outdoorsman, Bill "Wildman" Koerner.  We all made it back alive and in fairly good condition.  It's trips like these that really make me appreciate mattresses and indoor plumbing!

Our weekly Wednesday night youth group gatherings continue to go well.  We are currently in a series titled "Refuse To Be A Victim".  Mr. Koerner is teaching us practical ways to stay safe and be aware of our surroundings.

High School Graduation is quickly approaching.  We will celebrate our graduates on Sunday, May 22.  Tommy Park, RUF pastor at UNF, will be preaching and we will have sheet-cake!  We will also have a Ministry Fair afterwards.  Be on the lookout for more information.

Our annual youth group mission trip to Costa Rica is right around the corner.  Thirteen of us will leave on June 7 and return on June 14.  Please pray for our team as we prepare to go.  We will spend half of our time at the Children's Ranch doing construction projects.  The rest of our time will be spent in the town of Alajuelita.  It is one of the poorest areas in all of Costa Rica.  Please pray that God softens our hearts to those less fortunate than us and that we would share the gospel and the love of Christ with everyone we come into contact with.  Also, if you feel led to give financially, please contact me about that opportunity.

Heather Coggins has been working feverishly, planning all of the details for this year's Vacation Bible School.  It will be held at Cross Creek Church the week of June 20.  The Kindergarten age group is already full and there are only a handful of spots available for first through fifth graders.  Sign up now before it's too late.  If you would like more information, please contact Heather.

Lastly, I would like to thank all of my volunteers that serve on a weekly basis in our Student Ministry.  Barb Deisch, Dori Stephens, Aaron & Laura Koerner, Lizzy Hudson, Mark Wilson and Nick Datz are here every week loving and teaching our students.  Working with teenagers isn't always easy, so when you see them, give them an extra hug.

I'm excited about what God is doing here at Cross Creek and I'm looking forward to worshipping with you all this Sunday.

In Christ,

Shane
